My alternatives to platforms

List of my alternatives to platforms I use ‐ social media, messaging, video, music, and more (this post is updated regularly)

I have been looking for alternatives to mainstream platforms for months or even years, especially social media ones—not just because I am fed up with certain communities, censorship, or low engagement, but also because I am eager to use platforms that work differently than the most popular ones like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and TikTok, with better communities and rules.

INFO

Some of the platforms listed below are part of the fediverse; if you don't know what the fediverse is, there is an explanation below 😄!

What is the Fediverse?

The fediverse is a network of independent social media servers that can communicate with each other. Instead of one company controlling everything (like Facebook or Twitter), many different organizations or individuals run their own servers. Users on different servers can still follow, message, and interact with each other—similar to how email works across different providers.

Example: Imagine being able to see and interact with Facebook accounts from your Twitter account.
